The religious program continues to
proclaim the Good News of Jesus to the children and strenghens their
belief in Him and His teachings in the intermediate
grades. The children share in the priceless heritage of the
Catholic faith, and the means by which they can live what they
believe. The intermediate grades's
literature-based language arts program meets all students'
needs through multi-leveled lessons, practice exercises, and on going
evaluations. Students are encouraged to extend reading skills
through chapter books and independent reading. Their math
program addresses the needs of all students with lessons meeting both
remedial and challenging spectrums. The program utilizes
critical thinking skills, manipulatives, calculator, problem solving,
higher thought processes, and games. The science program meets the
state standards with a grade to grade spiraling program encompassing
life, earth, physical , biological, and environmental
sciences. The curriuclum is enhanced with projects,
experiments, and hands-on activities incorporating the scientific
method and process skills. The social studies program builds
consistent and cumulative learning through the study of commuity,
career exploration, American history, and current events. It
is enriched through writing activities. The partnership with
the local newspaper and Junior Achievement program provides a variety
of extended activities.
