JFK has been a proud participant of the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science for many years. Our very own Rebecca Papson, the middle school science teacher, has been the co-director of the PJAS Region 8 for many years. She brings her dedication to science education into the classroom every day.
As part of the middle school curriculum, 7th and 8th graders design and execute a science experiment and are able to participate in the PJAS region 8 (Washington, Greene, and Fayette counties) competition at CalU of PA. During the competition, students will present their research, experiment, and conclusions.
Those students that receive a first place in the regional competition will advance to the state competition at Penn State for a weekend-long conference.
